Where do I begin?!?

Colton Gibson Webb arrived at 3:25 pm 6/27 Thursday. Brian had knee surgery that day so we stayed back to help him. 

Cruz and I headed to DFW on Friday afternoon. Mental note don't travel with Cruz when he's fresh from a nap. He cried. I stopped and consoled him several times on the way up. We visited Colton Friday night for a short time then spent the night with Grama!  Cruz didn't sleep well over there. He's very aware of his environment and because it was new he was up every 2 hours!  Ugh!  Yesterday (sat) we were at the hospital most of the day. Cruz is rolling every way and making new squeals.  It's so funny. Today we went over to Matt and Sarah's to help. Colt is so sweet. His cries are little whimpers. Not like Cruzer these days :) 

Now we are at Aunt Janet's house. We are going to sleep here tonight and visiting Grama's work then visiting Grandma Cakes house before we head home! It's been a busy weekend!  Looking forward in getting back to some normalcy and seeing Brian/ Daddy.

Cruz did great with his shots although you can tell they are bothering him. He hasn't slept the greatest and had wanted comfort through nursing. Last time between 11 and 12 he nursed for 45 min!  Hopefully this awakening he'll nurse for a shorter time. Mama's gotta sleep. 

Someone else not getting any sleep?!?  Matt, Sarah, and Colton. Sarah's water broke last night. I just heard from Matt. He said "not bad just plugging along."  Around 10 pm she was dilated at a 3. Now at 3am she's dilated to a 4.  No epidural yet (she's not planning in getting one!) Praying for their family. Can't wait to meet this little guy (Cruz's BFF)!!!

Water baby

Cruz and I went to the Y and he got into the water. He had a blast. We didn't stay very long - 1 hour - because I didn't want him to burn. He has baby skin that is really sensitive anyway. We will be back soon. I loved watching him enjoying himself. I've come to realize that I'm happy if Cruz is happy. Is that a sign of a mom or what!?!

Milestone moment: Back to Belly

Cruz had been trying to roll over this way for weeks. He's been rolling over belly to back since he was 2 1/2 months old. He did it in slow motion but the key is he did it!  Good job baby boy!  Mommy's so proud of you!

We went to a bday party yesterday 

This morning he woke up at 4 am and was wide awake. He went back to sleep at 5:30 till 8ish (I woke up and saw him entertaining himself with his lovey (blue puppy dog blanket) and his fingers)

We went for a short walk today. It is hot and sunny. My friend Andrea and her little baby joined us. Couldn't walk too long because of the sun. He will have his shade in a couple of days. I also bought a battery operated fan to clip on the stroller. 

Today we have baby story time at 2.

Lazy Sunday and Cruz's stats!

I feel like this is the perfect time to update this since Cruzer is sleeping on me. First off, his sleep has been awesome over the last 3 days. He's slept 5 to 7 hours in the long stretch. Last night was 7 hours. It probably would have been longer but I saw him being a little restless and my boobs were leaking so I got him up to eat. 

He has had diarreah over couple of days. My doctor told me to give him rice cereal. I did on Friday but didn't see it helping. Only thing it did was make him skip a feeding.  

We have a friend's daughter bday today. Some of the people that will be there haven't met Cruz :)

The kids are here this weekend. Tayton will probably sleep late. He loves to stay up late. When I got up to feed Cruz he was still up. Kayden is happy watching tv. Reminds me when I was a kid on summer vacation. Cruz and I made chocolate chip pancakes for them.

Doesn't fit in 3 month clothes. 3 to 6 is way better

He's size 2 diaper although once I run out of size 2 he will start size 3

Hair is starting to come in more. Eyelashes are longer than mine!

Eyes are still blue. Looks like he's going to keep his daddy's eyes

Rolls over belly to back but not all the time. 

Tummy time is still not his friend

He is grabbing his right foot/ toes with his right hand. He's obsessed with this. 

He wants to put everything in his mouth. The gym with toys is entertaining him but also aggravates him too. He grabs these toys and tries to get them in his mouth. He's upset when he can't get them to his mouth. 

He wakes up between 5:30 and 6:30. I bring him into bed with me and try to get him to sleep with me a little longer. 

He coo's all the time. He will entertain himself by talking

I love to make him laugh. 

Cruz you're almost 4 months old!  You're growing up so fast. You are a ray of sunshine. I love to make you smile. I love cuddling with you. You are a dream come true. I love being your mommy!!!

We've been busy

Wed we went to lunch with Megan and up to Francescas to visit. No hard feelings there from what it seemed. Cruz was the main attraction. About 30 girls wanting some of his time. 

Today we went for our morning walk again then my friend Lanetta from Charming Charlie came to visit us. 

Not sure if I mentioned that I made a new friend in the neighborhood. She has a brand new baby girl!  We are going on a walk together in the morning. 

Sarah is dilated 2cm so Colton should be here any day!!!  So exciting!!!

Say it isn't so!

Cruz and Mommy had a great night sleep. I'm tired only because I was in a deep sleep. Check out Cruz's sleep last night!!!

5am is not morning!

Talking about sleep is becoming a major preoccupation of mine. It seems that the entire month of June I have had challenges. I'm trying to of the right thing but everything I am doing isn't working. Swaddle - no!  Dream feed - no!  Morning walk for a better night sleep - no!  Forget about trying to get Cruz to a later bedtime. He's so ready for bedtime at 7 that keeping him up even an extra 15 minutes would make him crazy. I finished The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Baby Guide to Good Sleep . I have realized that I am doing it all wrong according to them. The 5 s's work although he's going to outgrow them soon. His schedule is what I'm more concerned with.  He goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 6 or today was 5!!!  He hasn't been sleeping long stretches. Maybe 5 hours if I'm lucky but then after that its wake every 1 to 2 hours!  I am just frustrated because I thought his sleep habits would get better not worse. 

Monday mania

Today is going pretty good so far. Cruz woke up with gas at 5:45 today. This is a normal occurrence since he was born. I brought him to bed and fed him. He fell asleep on my tummy and I just kept him there. We slept for another 45 minutes :). We had a good Father's Day (see pics). We bbq'd and the kids slept over. Cruz didn't take much of a nap yesterday but is in such a good mood and went down at his normal bed time at 7. He's been talking a ton which I love to hear. Yesterday when we listened to the song "don't worry be happy" he laughed when I sang it to him. So adorable. We took a walk yesterday morning. I'm about to go on a walk again. Later we have baby story time 😍. Happy Monday!

Growth spurt is ah happening

We have hit the point where Cruz is eating a ton (3 hr vs 1.5 hr on avg) and sleeping less (longest stretch last night was 7 pm to10:30 pm). He's going through a growth spurt! He's so excited about life which is very cute but tiring for mommy :)

Grown out of the swing?!?

Well I have been preparing for this day I just wasn't imagining I would be doing it at 1am!  

I bought a new swaddle/ halo sack at BRU yesterday. I didn't have a chance to rearrange Cruz's little area so I was going to start transitioning him to the pack in play tomorrow. I put the wedge underneath the mattress to elevate his head because if his acid reflux. He slept really well in the swing until 12. He had been sleeping for close to 5.5 hr. I fed him for 25 min and put him back in the swing. He was fine for 5 min then tried to get comfortable which turned into him crying. I calmed him down. He was almost asleep when I put him back in the swing. We repeated the cry. This is when I rocked him to sleep and developed a plan to move him to his pack n play. His area is making due with the sudden location change. I moved the camera over so I can watch him. So far so good! His arms are over his head = content baby!

I fed him for 30 min and then he fell asleep on my tummy 

3 am!

I'm hoping and praying that I'm not failing when it comes to these nightly feedings. First you're supposed to be sleeping longer stretches. You were on the path of sleeping longer but haven't since we were in DFW for Memorial Day. Is it the swing?  I need to start to transition you to the crib. Anyway you go down at 7:30. You wake up at midnight, 3 and 6. I thought you would drop the 3 am feeding. Hmm .......

I took Cruz to the doctor yesterday for his rash. Poor little guy has eczema. We were prescribed a steroid cream to put on him 2 x's per day. 

We were informed that Cruz is out of the baby phase so gone are the days where he napped every couple of hours!!!  No wonder he's been resisting his naps. 

Wednesday whinesday

Cruz is changing up his sleep schedule. Whether I like it or not he's up and adam at 6am. I wish he would push it to 7 but no matter what I do he resists and it up. Well I got up with him!  I've taken a shower, washed my hair, made breakfast, and am about to go to the doc for Cruz's skin rash although its not bad right now ... Go figure :). 

Monday Monday Monday!

We went to baby story time and a children's concert at the Tomball library. Cruz loves when I sing songs to him especially "wheels on the bus". He actually laughs when I make a baby cry. I think he's preparing to roll over from back to belly. His legs have been kicking like crazy and he's making it to his side!!!  Happy 14 week birthday today!!!  You're growing up so fast!  I love you baby!!!

Mommy's sick

Well I thought I felt off. I've been visiting the bathroom a lot since Friday night. It hasn't stopped. In fact I feel worse. My body aches, I can't get comfortable. I'm still back and forth to the bathroom. I just took my temp and its 100.3. I googled about breastfeeding. This is fine actually recommended since my body is producing antibodies and this can be found in my breast milk so it's protecting Cruz. Say a prayer I get over this fast. Brian said its probably because I've been hanging out at a lot of kid things and they have a ton of germs. I now agree with him since I've never had a cold like this :-(. 

Aside from that Cruz has been really good. He slept for 5 hours then another 3. I on the other hand had a problem going to sleep and staying asleep ...

Swaddle story

It's 11:45. Cruz has been asleep for almost 4 hours. I'm asleep. Not soundly of course. I roll over and check the monitor to find that Cruz has broken out of this swaddle too!!!  We are now up. Dang, thought that was the missing link.

Update: 3 am wakeup call. I just put Cruz down again after a feeding. His hands are free ...

Swaddle That Baby!!!

I want to go on record and say I love the book "happiest baby on the block". I have been doing the 5 s' and have been having success with Cruz. The 5 s' are:

1.) swaddle

2.) side

3.) swing

4.) suck

5.) shoosh

I've been doing this before reading the book but not all together with without being able to swaddle real well. I've tried but I never was tight enough. Cruz would rip out of it fast. I bough a swaddle with Velcro. Cruz isn't a fan of it at first but immediately calms down. Right now he's asleep in my arms after #4. No shooshing required!!!  Last night he slept better and in longer durations with it. I can't believe I'm just now getting it!  

We had a good day today. We went to the Y. He likes it there. Everyone is very sweet!  I feel very comfortable leaving him with the workers. We played afterwards at home. He loves when I have him over my head like he's flying. He rolled over once but was frustrated and didn't want to do it again. 

Okay, going to put him to sleep. Pray!  No crying. He looks like he's sound asleep!
